Your time has come

We are thrilled to welcome you to The Fascia Institute and Treatment Center’s Hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos Clinic. Your journey to better understanding and managing your condition is very important to us, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it. Thank you for your patience and trust as we embark on this path together.

Personalized care at the Fascia Institute and Treatment Center

As one of the first Hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome clinics in the world, we have many years of experience in evaluating and treating patients with hypermobility disorders. Because of the complexities of a hypermobile-body, a comprehensive evaluation and lifetime treatment plan is needed. Our team has successfully helped many patients return back to normal lives.

We are also experts in other systems that also may be an issue in those with hypermobile bodies. Recognizing and treating dysautonomia, mast cell disorders, orthopedic and neurologic conditions is important. A problem in one system can surely affect others.

How the process works

  • Once you confirm your appointment with us our medical team will review your file to determine if you are an appropriate patient for the services we can offer. If your case is accepted, you will have an initial televisit with Kelli Morrell, NP and the Director of Clinical Medicine. She will review your medical history and determine what your goals of treatment are. This visit can be submitted to insurance for potential reimbursement.

    Initial medical evaluation (E/M 99205 – $494.80)

  • Your next step involves a comprehensive metabolic evaluation. You will have blood work sent to your local lab for collection. After collection, results take 2-3 weeks to result. The medical team will review your results and Kelli will discuss abnormal values and start you on a specific treatment plan. If your treatment plan involves supplementation, we have the ability to formulate custom supplements based on the specifics of your own metabolic profile. In many cases, patients begin to feel better after a few weeks of supplementation.

You will need to check with your insurance company prior to going to the lab to make sure the tests that we order are covered. This visit may be submitted to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

    Metabolic review (E/M 99215 – $432.70)

  • An in-person evaluation is essential in determining the extent of your physical challenges. At this visit, you will have an exam to determine if you meet criteria for hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, or if you have another hypermobility subtype or connective tissue disorder. Be prepared to have multiple measurements taken!

The visit will prompt ordering of a comprehensive set of imaging including necessary MRIs and x-rays based off of the exam findings.

Insurance can be used to cover the imaging evaluation. Our imaging partners will submit for prior authorization in many cases. Please note that we have preferred imaging partners who specialize in noting irregularities only seen in hypermobile patients.

You may submit this visit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

    Fascial evaluation (E/M 99215 – $432.70)

  • Our team will review any potential irregularities in the imaging you completed. During this televisit we will point out abnormalities in your anatomy and discuss treatment protocols for you to implement. It is rare that hypermobile patients have “normal or unremarkable” imaging. Fortunately, we work with expert radiologists who understand hypermobility and EDS. In addition, our team has reviewed many thousands of x-rays and are experts in recognizing abnormal patterns.

This visit can be submitted for potential insurance reimbursement.

    Musculoskeletal imaging review (E/M 99215 – $432.70)

  • At your physician evaluation, Dr. Courseault, our Medical Director will review your case with you. The combination of reviewing your medical history, metabolic evaluation, imaging information and physical exam findings will help Dr. Courseault confirm your diagnosis and build further on your treatment plan. The physician evaluation visit may also include an ultrasound evaluation of abnormal fascial areas that may be causing you discomfort or pain. While this step concludes your initial evaluation and treatment plan, we recognize that this is just the beginning of your journey.

This visit can be submitted for potential insurance reimbursement.
