— Jacques Courseault, MD · Founder & Medical Director
Frequently asked questions
This screening is for our Hypermobility & Ehlers-Danlos Clinic. Please read these first — they answer most of what people call us to ask.
What does the Hypermobility & EDS Clinic treat?+
Led by Dr. Jacques Courseault, our clinic focuses on hypermobility spectrum disorders and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), and more broadly on connective tissue and autoimmune disorders. We evaluate and treat the conditions that commonly travel with them, including mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), dysautonomia/POTS, chronic pain, inflammation, and lipedema.
Do I need a diagnosis before I come in?+
No diagnosis is needed. Establishing or confirming a diagnosis is part of the evaluation — you're graded in person against the international consortium diagnostic criteria with a hypermobility- and EDS-focused exam.
What's included in the evaluation?+
The evaluation is thorough and includes:
- A detailed review of your intake form and your medical records
- An in-person visit for consortium-criteria grading and a hypermobility- and EDS-focused exam — both to reach a diagnosis and to address the physical problems you're having
- Metabolic and genetic testing to look for treatable causes
- Extensive lab work
- Flexion-extension MRI and x-rays as indicated
We evaluate and treat MCAS, dysautonomia, pain, inflammation, and lipedema as part of your care.
How much does it cost, and do you take insurance?+
The evaluation is $2,499, and we're out of network for insurance (self-pay). A $500 deposit reserves your appointment — it's non-refundable and applied to the $2,499 — and the remaining $1,999 is due at your first visit. Clinically, the evaluation can be completed in as few as 2 visits or up to 5, depending on what your workup requires.
Can I add Fascial Mapping®?+
Yes. Fascial Mapping® is Dr. Courseault's 488-point, head-to-toe ultrasound assessment that pinpoints fascial restrictions conventional imaging can miss. The add-on is $2,500, and you save $300 when you book it at the same time as your hypermobility evaluation.
Do you see children?+
Yes — we see pediatric patients and up. Please enter the patient's date of birth on the form below.
Where are you located, and is telehealth available?+
We have locations in the New Orleans, Louisiana area and in California. Telehealth is available for patients in Louisiana and California, but at least one in-person visit is required (the exam and imaging are done in person). Enter your state of residence below and we'll confirm what's available to you.
My main issues are fatigue, dizziness, or allergic-type reactions more than joint pain — is this still relevant?+
Yes. Connective tissue disorders often involve much more than joints — including dysautonomia (like POTS), MCAS, fatigue, and inflammation. The screening below asks about these.
What if the screening says I'm not a fit for this clinic?+
We don't turn patients away. If the Hypermobility & EDS evaluation isn't the right starting point, we can refer you to The Fascia Institute's musculoskeletal (MSK) clinic, and our team can always take a second look if you feel the screening got it wrong.
What happens after I submit?+
Everything is handled digitally — no phone call is required. Our team reviews your answers and follows up by email with your next step.
Is my information private?+
Yes. Your information is kept confidential and handled in accordance with HIPAA.
Quick clinical screening
This takes about 3 minutes. It's a screening tool, not a diagnosis — our clinical team always makes the final call. Whatever the result, a real person reviews it — you won't be turned away by a form. Fields marked * are required.
Please seek immediate help
If this is a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room right away.
If you're having thoughts of harming yourself or others, you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) any time, day or night.
This screening tool is not equipped to help with emergencies, so we're not able to continue the questionnaire from here.
This looks like a good fit
Based on your answers, your situation is consistent with what our team evaluates and treats. The next step is our full intake questionnaire — it takes 25–40 minutes and gives our clinical team the detail they need before your visit.
What to expect: the evaluation is $2,499 (out of network / self-pay), and no diagnosis is needed beforehand. A $500 deposit reserves your appointment — it's non-refundable and credited toward the $2,499, with the remaining $1,999 due at your first visit.
You do not need to call or email our office first — completing the full intake is the next step. If you'd like our team to know you're on your way, you can also send us a quick note.
We'd like our team to take a quick look first
Your answers don't clearly point one way or the other, so rather than guess, we're sending this to our clinical team for a quick review. Your email app should have opened with your answers addressed to our office — please press Send to complete this step.
We'll follow up by email, typically within 1–2 business days, with a recommendation.
Our MSK clinic may be the better starting point
Based on your answers, the Hypermobility & EDS evaluation may not be the best match for what you described right now — but we don't want to turn you away. The Fascia Institute also has a musculoskeletal (MSK) clinic that treats pain and injuries directly, and it can refer you into our Hypermobility & EDS program later if that turns out to be the right path.
We've sent your answers to our team so they can help route you — please press Send in your email app to complete this step. You're always welcome to ask us to take a second look.
